TUESDAY RUNDOWN: HUNTER, NAYLOR & MORE
It’s getting down to the nitty grit in the sports world and we welcomed some old pals to Tuesday’s Episode #977 of The RP Show to break it all down! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NHL leftovers including the Flames being officially eliminated from the playoff race, 2) The Saskatoon Blades move on and so too does Connor Bedard (but Rod says not before he gets some good rest!), 3) The Blue Jays host Detroit in their home-opener Tuesday night, 4) NBA play-in games Tuesday night feature the Hawks at Heat and T-Wolves at Lakers, 5) There are 10 NHL games Tuesday night including the Jets and Panthers hoping to clinch, and 6) Randoms.
- Stanley Cup champion (Calgary, 1989) and former Flame, Canuck, Nordique and Shark Tim Hunter joined the show for an hour-long visit spanning all hockey topics. He feels the Flames won’t make any drastic moves anytime soon, if at all. In the end, he felt the team simply wasn’t good enough. Hunter fielded plenty of viewer questions including the career of Connor Bedard, playoff predictions, old time hockey stories and much more!
- The daily Key Auto Group poll question was: What should the Flames do – Fire the Coach, Fire the GM, Fire Them Both or Nothing? At press time, Fire Them Both was leading.
- In Hour 2 we were joined by TSN football insider Dave Naylor who reported what’s keeping him busy at the moment is covering all the Canadians expected to be drafted into the NFL (he feels as many as five could hear their name called). Regarding Atlantic expansion, Naylor reported there are some things going on but if there’s nothing concrete within the next few months, the plug will be pulled for good. And finally Naylor went deep into the problems CFL teams are facing recruiting U.S. players whatwith the competition from the XFL and USFL plus lucrative N.I.L. deals NCAA players are getting (i.e. why would they play in the CFL for peanuts after making bank in college?)
- Monday’s Rockstar of the Day was Ryan Getzlaf. Tuesday’s was Tim Hunter!
- If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/12 am CT on Game+ TV, on our YouTube Channel or wherever the best podcasts are found.
- See you at 12 pm ET on Wednesday on Game+ TV and WQEE Radio.
I will never bet against a Sutter. If the Flames organization fires him, that would be their loss. The problem lies with the men who play a game for a living.
