WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY – START YOUR ENGINES
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)
Sorry, but you still won’t convince me this isn’t the best time of the year.
It’s open to debate and personal opinion of course, but as a full time sportscaster and blogger, every day right now is a fantastic buffet of exciting sports action.
Thank goodness we’ve got two hours daily on The RP Show to go through it all. We could probably do three hours. (Click here to Listen Live daily at 10 am MT)
What’s my focus today? Well the Florida Panthers go after their first-ever series sweep in franchise history when they host Carolina in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Eastern Final tonight in Sunrise. Still can’t believe I get to be there.
Meanwhile there are 28 other teams not currently playing, and they’re making the news too, like the Calgary Flames hiring Craig Conroy as General Manager on Tuesday. Lots to debate there.
My mind keeps wandering to the start of the Memorial Cup in Kamloops, BC which opens Friday. Coming out of the weekend, the field is now set. It’s: the Peterborough Petes, Patrick Roy’s Quebec Remparts, Seattle Thunderbirds and host Kamloops Blazers. If you only follow Junior Hockey in big moments, now’s the time.
The Blue Jays are up and down like a toilet seat, but at least they’re entertaining and have our attention. Did you see Vlady had six RBIs including a grand slam last night?
And of course the CFL is in training camps and now is the time for two things: optimism, and predictions.
(*Riders QB Jake Dolegala being found not guilty of DWI constitutes news, but not something we’ll get into here today.)
RP Show betting partner Bet Regal listed their Futures Odds for the Grey Cup on Tuesday and you may not like them. They are, from top to bottom …
Winnipeg – Hamilton – Toronto – BC – Calgary – Montreal – Ottawa – Saskatchewan – Edmonton
Right now the drivers are revving their engines at the starter’s line.
I don’t see how you could find much more exciting than where we’re at right now.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary
(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm ET on Game+ TV, WQEE & Streaming)
The big question will be if the Roughriders organization issue a formal apology. Before all the facts were in Jake Dolgada was suspended.
Yesterday he was found no guilty of impairment.
Turns out those gas pumps are confusing, and being texas friendly creates suspicion for some old busy bodies around here.
To the incoming Roughriders. It is a paycheck. These people are not your friends.
#Justiceprevailed.
hey Angelo, do you know what exactly happened during this stop by the cops on Jake? What reason did he get off of the charge?
The breathalyzer tests were deemed inadmissible.
It was mainly deemed there were alternatives to his confusion. Remember that Judge was once a prominent Regina Defense Attorney. There isn’t a pedophile or Skel around Regina that guy couldn’t get off with an alternative story. It now extends to the judiciary which is a nice backup plan for not getting elected as a Federal NDP MP. Totally plausible defense: – Golfing in a hot sun, foreign credit card, being overly friendly (big no no in Saskatchewan), lingering at the pump, having a Septujanarian as a looky loo taking an interest, calling the cops ya know to be a… Read more »
