In a game that featured the CEBL’s top two scorers, it was the defence and supporting cast that made the difference for the Winnipeg Sea Bears in an 86-78 win over the Saskatchewan Rattlers at Canada Life Centre on Friday. The Sea Bears went on an 11-2 run in target score time that culminated in a game-winning three from Jelani Watson-Gayle.

Meanwhile Nick Hornsby’s near triple-double led the visiting Edmonton Stingers (5-4) to a wire-to-wire 103-77 win over the Brampton Honey Badgers (5-5) on Friday night. On the second night of a back-to-back, he finished the game with 18 points, a season-high 15 rebounds, and eight assists on route to his third consecutive double-double.

All three Canadian MLS teams are in action Saturday. C-F Montreal faces off against Charlotte F-C, while Toronto F-C plays the New England Revolution and the Vancouver Whitecaps take on the Western Conference-leading L-A-F-C. All three Canadian teams are looking for wins to improve their league standing.

The Montreal Alouettes remain unbeaten after hammering the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 38-12 as the Ontario club hosted a home opener. Cody Fajardo  rushed for a touchdown and threw two others in the win for Montreal. Montreal’s success has come down to a Fajardo reunion with Als head coach Jason Maas.

The Toronto Blue Jays enter today’s tilt against the Oakland Athletics looking for revenge after a 5-4 loss on Friday night. Vladimir Guerrero Junior found his home run form but Toronto’s Chris Bassitt struggled. He admitted after the game that he needed to do more to prepare.

Shohei Ohtani smashed his major league-leading 25th home run but the Los Angeles Angels fell 7 to 4 to the Colorado Rockies. Elias Diaz’s go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning rallied the Colorado Rockies in the win. It was the first grand slam by a Rockies player since Diaz connected in Philadelphia on September 10th 2021.

Dan Snyder’s time as the owner of the Washington Commanders could be potentially coming to a close. The Associated Press reports that NFL owners are set to meet July 20th to consider and potentially vote on the sale of the team. Three-quarters of the league’s 32 owners are needed to finalize the deal.

EJ Anosike doesn’t get too much hype for the Sea Bears but he is a beast fighting hard for rebounds. Great game by him. The Sea Bears are for real.

For a city that gets so much dirt thrown on it, they sure know how to get a sports facility rocking. I always hear how much Winnipeg sucks in Sask yet I always have a great time

Mosaic looked dead on TV the other day, big and empty, the glory left when you guys pulled the pin on Taylor Field.

Sad state affairs in the city of Regina I hear
