FRIDAY COMMENTARY – BETTER THINGS TO DO

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)

A coupla three or four thoughts entering the weekend, and not all about sports:

#1 – The biggest news in Canada this week is that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie are getting a divorce. I don’t care what you think about Trudeau’s politics; if you’re one of the ones laughing at and jeering the Trudeaus while they go through this traumatic time, shame on you.

Taking pleasure from someone else’s misfortune is one of the most insidious things you can do, and I’ve seen them all.

#2 – We did a cross promotion bit on Atlanta’s WQEE Radio this week where I appeared on The Sports Beat on Tuesday, then the show’s host Richard Holdridge appeared on The RP Show on Thursday. The programs air back-to-back daily on the radio in Georgia.

In the interview, Rich said “Thanks for all you do for the Atlanta area!”

I was a bit taken aback because I’ve never thought being on the radio was noble at all, but I’ve learned after all these years to just go with it.

Sort of like ..

#3 – While chatting on the phone with my cousin in rural Sask this week, a rumour came up that I’d had a rendez-vous with country star Terri Clark way back in the day.

It’s not true, but I told them, “What the heck! Sure let’s go with it!”

My first wife was a clone of Terri Clark. Maybe that’s where the story started.

Don’t know, and really don’t care.

#4 – These are the last few weeks of the CFL season where the league is on centre stage. Before long college and NFL football will take over, plus training camps will be opening in every hockey league.

For whatever reason, the league is struggling for hype and publicity these days but that doesn’t mean you and I can’t watch it. The storylines are abundant.

Unfortunately in today’s sports world, you’ve gotta dig deep to find them.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm ET on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)

Great stuff Reality hits everyone and a person who has ever experienced a divorce should never wish it on another man or his worst enemy. I have known men at Justin Trudeau’s age range that would rather have had to deal with cancer or lived through an industrial accident. At the end of the day it simply didn’t work out. What is fair game to say about our Prime Minister is that as a textbook Narcissist he has always wanted to be accredited with moral virtue in the absence of the work necessary to actually attain it. In a simplier… Read more »
