COMMENTARY: HAPPY THANKSGIVING

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)

Taking you into the weekend with a coupla three or more thoughts …

#1 – With the NHL season starting up, and the MLB Playoffs and NFL in full swing, you can really see why it would be prudent for the CFL to move its season up, potentially with Grey Cup being played on Labour Day Weekend.

You really gotta search for CFL info nowadays (everywhere BUT Saskatchewan) whereas in the summer, the league had centre stage all to themselves.

But I won’t hold my breath.

#2 – The Blue Jays being swept by the Twins in Round 1 of the playoffs has everybody talking. It’s evident this team has some problems and if “The Kids” haven’t matured by now, I’m thinking they never will.

The pundits have been overly critical but to play devil’s advocate, if I was the Blue Jays, I’d say “We’ve made the playoffs three of the past four years! That’s hard to do!”

And they’d be right.

#3 – Connor Bedard got his Welcome To The NHL moment Thursday night courtesy Minnesota goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.

Connor tried to dangle the 3-time Stanley Cup champ but Flower stymied him, then tripped him. Check the highlights! I think it’s great.

And #4 – Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend kicks off for me with an appearance on NHL Radio Friday talking about the Florida Panthers & Tampa Lightning. Catch it on The Morning Skate with host Scott Laughlin.

Covering these teams in Florida has been beyond my wildest dreams.

And, since they’re playing this weekend, one of the Panthers has lent us the keys to his mansion in the Florida Keys so that’s where we’ll be enjoying turkey, sand and surf.

It all worked out great in the end.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Labour Day GC common man!!!!!!
If you’re saying the sports landscape is too crowded then using that philosophy the GC should move back to the weekend of American thanksgiving. 6-8 NFL Teams have already played, light NHL & NBA schedule Sunday, no MLB, golf or car racing……..is the perfect weekend for GC. Bottomline is, if ya wanna watch the CFL you will find it and watch!!!!! Go Riders!!!!!
