FRIDAY COMMENTARY
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on Cat Country 98, Rock 98.5 FM & LTD Radio)
A coupla three or so thoughts headed into the weekend …
#1 – It was quite a night of hockey. The game of the night was here in Florida where the Panthers dominated the Leafs from start to finish, winning 3-1 before their largest home-opener crowd in history.
Elsewhere the Flames won, and the Oilers, Canucks and Jets all lost.
#2 – I don’t gotta tell you that hosting this Panthers & Lightning show – the Cats ‘N Bolts Podcast – has been a dream come true and this week’s guest is NHL great Ed Jovanovski. It’s available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube now.
I noticed over the past couple of years there are tons of Panthers alumni here and they’re more than happy to be interviewed. There just aren’t any other shows!
Hard to believe, but a boon for us. I built all my old Rider shows that way, and it’s the same thing here. People love the alumni.
#3 – Not surprisingly, South Florida is a haven for retired sports stars with a lot of time on their hands. That includes Dolphins great and former CFL’er Ricky Williams who’s set to appear on the RP Show today.
Ricky’s coming on to promote his new cannabis brand and before you say it – as a Recovery Coach, I don’t have any problem with what he’s doing.
I’m not anti-alcohol nor drugs. But if you want to stop and can’t, that’s where I can help.
And #4 – Just to clear up any other confusion coming out of my comment on the show that the CFL needs the Ticats in the Grey Cup, it’s not a shot at the CFL (as some have claimed).
If you’ve noticed, the Grey Cup is just weeks away and we still haven’t gotten an announcement that the game is soldout. If the Ticats are in the game, that won’t be a problem. However if Montreal or Toronto represent the East, it could be a big problem.
Don’t ask for my opinion, then whine about what you hear.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary
