COMMENTARY: GREATNESS
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday on this commentary, plus Valentines Day to boot!
#1 – I implore any hockey fans to not take for granted what Connor McDavid is doing in Edmonton.
The Oilers captain notched six assists Tuesday night in the Oilers’ 8-4 victory over Detroit at Rogers Place.
I beg you to appreciate it because when I read the boxscore this morning, I shrugged my shoulders and said, “Meh.” We’re getting used to it, but we shouldn’t. It’s greatness.
#2 – In fact with that 6-assist outing, McDavid became the fourth fastest player to hit the 600-career assist plateau. The only three who did it quicker? Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Bobby Orr.
Might I remind those three have all won Stanley Cups.
#3 – Pitchers and catchers report for spring training this week in Arizona and Florida. I hope this is the year we make it over to Dunedin to catch some Blue Jays grapefruit games but trips like those are rare.
As it is, we’re headed to Tampa Bay this weekend to catch the Lightning and Florida Panthers in the latest Battle of Florida.
Can’t do it all!
And #4 – CFL fans are buzzing heading into Day 2 of free agency. It’s true Grey Cups aren’t won or lost in February but it certainly begins here and it’s clear Rider fans are very excited about the team’s signings.
However if I’m not mistaken, the biggest names left on the board didn’t get signed on Day 1?: Simoni Lawrence, Tim White and Jake Dolegala?
All the more reason to tune in today.
