Commentary: Open Up And Say Ah
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for this week’s The Good, The Great & The Ugly!
First the good: The Moose Jaw Warriors are back home in The Hangar Tuesday night for Game 3 of the WHL Championship series.
The Tribe leads Portland 2-0 after a pair of weekend wins in Oregon and I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering if this will be a sweep?
Praying that the NHL Network elects to carry this week’s games as they did not carry TSN’s broadcasts over the weekend. This is “can’t miss” stuff.
Next the great: I’ve never lived in a market where people begged for more coverage of their local team, but that’s the case here in South Florida when it comes to our Cats ‘N Bolts Podcast covering the Florida Panthers.
With the Cats set to host Game 5 of their second round Stanley Cup Playoff series tonight against Boston – with the chance to close out the Bruins – Panthers fans basically forced us to host an Instagram Live show last night to discuss the series.
When consumers are demanding your product, you’ve gotta give em what they want.
What a trip!
And lastly, the ugly: Not quite sure how to approach this topic but the ugliness being spewed back and forth between reporters, bloggers and podcasters in the Oilers/Canucks & Bruins/Panthers series is nothing more than … childish.
More than anything I’ve just been observing the spats but it reminds me of controversies we were embroiled in back in the day with Riders/Stampeders, Pats/Warriors & Pats/Broncos. In retrospect, I’m ashamed to have acted that way.
It certainly didn’t get us anywhere!
Maybe this perspective just comes with age, yet most of those guys are older than me!
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

When I see the childish antics.
It goes ALL they way back to Charleston vs Hyanisport.
“The fans are standing up to them. The security guards are standing up to them. The peanut vendors are standing up to them. And by golly, if I could be down there, I’d be standing up to them.”…..
It was a bygone era that will never come back.
Regina vs Swift Current though is the gold standard.
