Commentary: Don’t Plan The Parade

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)

On Mondays we wrap the weekend on this Commentary and here it is:

#1 – The Edmonton Oilers visit the Florida Panthers Monday night in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The Oilers and their fans are still shaking their heads after Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky posted a 32-save shutout in Saturday’s 3-0 victory.

It’s a darn scary feeling when you play your best and lose.

We’ll see what happens tonight.

#2 – From the Panthers perspective, I’m not gonna lie, Cats fans are feeling pretty good about the series.

I started to daydream about where the Stanley Cup Parade would take place, guessing Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, or down Sunrise Boulevard, winding up at the practice facility for a huge party.

STOP! Don’t put the cart before the horse.

#3 – Week 1 of the CFL season was pretty good! All the underdogs won, including the Roughriders taking a 29-21 win out of Edmonton.

For good reason the Elks are kicking themselves for literally fumbling the game away and there’s no doubt that franchise is past the point of moral victories.

Kicker Boris Bede and quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson are CFL vets whom the Elks signed to win them games like that.

But they flubbed it.

Still, the Riders certainly have nothing to apologize for.

And #4 – The weekend was filled with wonderful regional rivalries in the Western Canadian Baseball League. The Moose Jaw Miller Express split a home-and-home series with the Swift Current 57s, then blew one in Saskatoon to the Berries on Sunday!

The only home midweek game is Thursday versus the Regina Red Sox.

It’ll be great to see those boys again!
