Commentary: Too Little Too Late

It’s the story that won’t go away!

Although I’m sure the National Football League wishes it would.

As the Miami Dolphins prepare to host the Buffalo Bills tonight at Hard Rock Stadium to kickoff Week 2 in the NFL, the talk is not about the game.

It remains about star Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill being arrested by traffic cops three hours prior to last Sunday’s home game against Jacksonville.

Why is it still in the news, you may ask?

Because after days of telling his side of the story, trying to get the cop fired, and being backed by his team, Tyreek Hill did an aboutface on Wednesday and said he could’ve handled the situation better.

Uh … excuse me?

Of course he could’ve. But who really looks in the mirror these days? Hardly anyone, especially pro athletes.

Furthermore, Hill said he might’ve been better off to have followed the cop’s orders, rather than defy him, which led to being dragged out of his sportscar in a headlock. Talk about egg-on-your-face for everyone who blindly took his side!

Gee … is Tyreek listening to this Commentary? Or did he see Charles Barkley on Sportscenter? Because we both said the same thing, but seemed like lone voices in the wilderness.

No … somebody got to Tyreek Hill in the past 24 hours. I don’t know who it was; it could’ve been the NFL, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, the coach, the GM, his agent, or a host of others.

And by the way, I believe it all to simply be lip service but it seems to have adequately diffused the situation.

Too little too late, and it remains a blackmark for the NFL.

Oh ya, and then there’s a game to be played tonight between AFC East Division foes, the Bills and Dolphins.

You can bet the Bills have been chuckling all week and watching with interest as they come down to South Florida for kickoff. Miami seems to be far too distracted by the actions of their flamboyant wide receiver/punt returner.

So I’m taking the Bills Mafia in this one.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

Well start with he is a complete R word. He didn’t know he was recorded. The entire time he is on phone to Massa Drew “I being arrested”. So the second he rolled that window up he came that close to those cops putting so many holes in him they could have made him a tea bag. Now the gaslite begins. He wants the cop fired. If that Miami Owner wants to send a message they should cut him on the spot. That’s what they did to all the #metoo players falsely accused. These players have layers of wax in… Read more »
