Monday Commentary: The Heat Is On
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s a brand new week, we’re done with Nashville, and after a 12-hour weekend drive, it’s back to reality at home in South Florida.
Let’s see … what did I miss?
The Florida Panthers were on the road for a pair last week – a loss at Pittsburgh and a wild win at Philly – were home for just one game on the weekend – a 3-1 victory over San Jose – and now head out on the road for the next couple of weeks with stops across Western Canada. Perhaps they’re coming to a town near you.
Dagnabbit. It’s just like the old days in Regina; I loathed when the Pats were on the road. There’s nothing I like better than watching live hockey and without it, I feel a little lost.
The cross-state Lightning are on the road too, and opened their roadie with a 4-2 victory at Vancouver on Sunday.
Frankly I’m very hesitant to turn on the radio or watch any news today. The 12 teams who made the College Football Playoff bracket were announced on Sunday but the local Miami Hurricanes did not make it.
In fact, no Florida team did.
So the whining and moaning will be off the charts.
At least the NFL’s Dolphins and Buccaneers were winners on Sunday, and Tampa Bay looks to be in great position to win the division and host a playoff game again!
What a difference a month makes.
Ah yessssssss. The more I talk, the clearer it becomes.
The hockey teams are on the road but the NBA’s Miami Heat are home and as luck would have it, the Toronto Raptors are in town Thursday at the Kaseya Center.
For reasons you probably already know, I change allegiances to my favourite NHL teams like most people change their underwear.
But it’s not the same when it comes to other sports. I’ll definitely always cheer for the Toronto Blue Jays and for sure the Toronto Raptors too.
In fact the NBA may be more fun than any one of them. I have no clue what’s going on down on the floor, so I just sit back and am entertained. Plus tickets can be had for just 20 bucks (look it up).
Nobody asks for my opinion on basketball and I love it.
It’s a great way to stay out of arguments.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
