Welp, that’s it for football season.
And it really went out with a fizzle, unless you’re a Philly fan.
The Eagles jumped out to 10-0 lead over Kansas City in Super Bowl LIX, and never looked back as they rolled to a 40-22 victory over the Chiefs at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday.
Cue the green & white confetti, and the yellow Gatorade shower. Philadelphia’s taking home its second Super Bowl in franchise history while the Chiefs were denied a record third straight Super Bowl title.
Oh of course it was a spectacle worth watching. It’s the pinnacle of sports in North America, and of TV watching too. The celebs in the crowd were many, including actors Kevin Costner, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Jon Hamm and President Donald Trump (I would call him an actor too).
The halftime show was … something. I do like hiphop act Kendrick Lamar’s latest song – which became the anthem of Super Bowl 59 – but I had no clue of the other tunes he sang, which left me a little lost.
That’s likely a “me” problem, but from what I’m seeing on social media, I’m not alone.
Speaking of social media, I’m successfully limiting my consumption of it lately, however you always wanna see what people are saying during and after a game like that.
A lot seem happy to see the Chiefs lose. It’s the classic “Build ‘em up, then tear ‘em down” crowd, and there’s a lot of people in that group.
But the Chiefs will be fine. Patrick Mahomes and company have their three Super Bowl rings and now we’ll need to wait and see if they can get back here.
Losses like that leave a mark, and you could tell by the look on their faces that the Chiefs were beaten by halftime.
Not great news for the NFL that their championship game was so onesided, and there was no threat of a comeback, but I’m pretty sure the League will survive.
As for the Eagles, it would appear that they’ll be back too. They’ve got a great young coach and a quarterback in his prime. If only their fans weren’t so annoying!
If you have to feel bad for anybody, feel bad for the fans. For millions upon millions on this continent there are only two seasons: football season and winter.
Bundle up.

Thank goodness for two things:
Game is over
Didn’t have to look at Swifty all night.
