Commentary: The Good, The Great & The Ugly

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First the good: It’s not good at all that one more layer of big time football came to an end last night with the College Football National Championship being played here in Miami.
The city was overrun with Indiana Hoosier fans – apparently the school with the largest alumni of any U.S. college – and fans of the hometown Miami Hurricanes who were the first team in NCAA history to play for the title in their own stadium.
Alas, a last minute Canes comeback bid fell short in an epic game and the Hoosiers rode off with a 27-21 victory, capping an unbeaten season.
And with that, the only league still playing is the NFL.
Next the great: Across town, a much bigger crowd than we expected showed up in Sunrise to watch the San Jose Sharks beat the Florida Panthers 3-1. The highlight of the night was a goalie fight between the Panthers’ Sergei Bobrovsky and the Sharks’ Alex Nedjeljkovic!
It was absolutely wild and the highlights are being replayed endlessly on the networks and social media.
Gosh I love the NHL!
It was also great to catch up with Regina Pats & Moose Jaw Warriors great Al Tuer, who was in the press box pro scouting for the NY Rangers.
I told House, “This brawl happened because you’re here!”
And finally the ugly: I think I’ll pass on that one, this week. There’s enough ugliness outside of sports that we don’t need to go looking for it on the ice, or field.
2026 has gotten off to a nice start. Let’s keep it that way.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

The national championship game was epic.
Curt Cignetti his background and story. That is a legit movie. Mendoza couldn’t walk on at Miami and his parents were athletes there.
Every University President at a blue blood program just looked over at their Head Coach and it is now implied they get one loss and are out of there.
Indiana not Notre Dame or Purdue won the National Title.
Re Michael Irvin: I love the guy. He has issues. Miami is in his heart. With that it’s “creepy” and nothing but trouble if he is around those players .
