Wednesday Commentary: Pop Off

It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday on this Commentary! Here we go:

#1 – The Vegas Golden Knights are off to the Stanley Cup. They completed a sweep of Colorado last night and honestly this whole Commentary could be dedicated to them.

While I’m staying off social media, for the most part, I’m enjoying two things: 1) Watching the Knights’ haters heads explode the further they go in the playoffs and, 2) Watching Vegas fans marvel at the success of their team, making the Stanley Cup Final in three of their nine seasons, or a .333 batting average.

They’re calling their franchise the best in sports and I can’t disagree.

#2 – We had our team welcome barbecue for the Moose Jaw Miller Express last night at the home of Team President Darryl Pisio and it really got me in the feels. It’s my third season broadcasting their games on Flo College and it’s just the perfect gig. Short, for the summer months, just home games, and it’s fun to be part of a team again. Just enough. It’s a great feeling to be tossed team apparel and be part of something.

How will the Millers be? No one knows. Half the team has been replaced and we got a new manager. Welcome to NCAA sports.

And #3 – I’m wondering where you are on the start of CFL season. Is it on your radar? If it is, do you feel it’s too early? Living in Sask for a half century, I tended to be in that vacuum – the green one – and didn’t really realize there’s a world outside it. But there is. A great, exciting one. The CFL really needs to be aggressive in finding their part in it.

I’m not sure if they are.
