Wednesday Commentary: Win-Win

It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday … here we go:

#1 – Of course the Carolina Hurricanes weren’t going to just roll over. They tied up the Stanley Cup Final Tuesday night with a 5-3 victory at Vegas and now the series shifts to Raleigh for Game 5 all tied up at 2-2.

It dawned on me last night that’ll I’ll be happy for either team if they win. The Canes deserve it – especially their long-suffering coach Rod Brind’Amour – while the Golden Knights are all my friends.

Win-win.

#2 – Sadly I caught only a glimpse of the game. I was broadcasting Miller Express baseball and we topped the visiting Swift Current 57’s 16-9 at Ross Wells Park. That put the Millers at 5-4, and in second-place in the East. It’s been an impressive season for rookie coach Michael Gonzalez of New Jersey. Friday night the division-leading Saskatoon Berries come to town. Why don’t you join us!

#3 – Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL is a no-doubter. People don’t even need to think about it. It’s Saturday’s West Division collision with the BC Lions at the Saskatchewan Roughriders. It’s Week 2, but the season opener for both.

Both teams looked slick in the preseason, which doesn’t matter now. I’ll take the Riders to win, on banner-raising night.

So many are belly-aching that there are only three games this week, for a second straight week. I don’t know why that is, nor do I care. I’m just enjoying the games.

And #4 – I’m oddly interested in the NBA Finals. Frankly it’s wayyyy more because of what’s going on off the court, rather than on. But the Knicks lead the Spurs 2-1 going into Game 4 tonight at MSG. I’ll be tuned in.

Isn’t it funny what hype can do.
