Friday Commentary: The Fact Remains

A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend:
#1 – I’m shelving the “Death, Taxes & Cody Fajardo winning” line this week for obvious reasons but the fact remains; don’t ever doubt the inevitability of the Edmonton CFL QB. The Elks got the ball back with a minute to go in Saskatchewan last night and Victor Blanchard hit a 57-year field goal with four seconds left to give the Elks a 36-34 victory in the game of the year.
The Riders showed no signs of a team dealing with the death of teammate less than a week ago – and the circumstances around it – and let this be more evidence that after a tragedy you need to get back to your routine as soon as possible.
But what a game. And Edmonton sits atop the CFL at 6-1 while the Riders fell to 4-2. Oh, and Fajardo threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns.
#2 – Couldn’t wait to get to this point: for the first time ever I sat down to watch a WNBA game this week. The Jays were sucking, so I thought I’d give the Indiana-Connecticut game a try. But within 10 seconds, I saw Indy star Caitlin Clark getting absolutely abused on the court with pretty much no protection from the officials.
I took this injustice to social media and was quickly told that’s just the culture of women’s basketball and if I don’t like it, to stay out.
Oh? That argument doesn’t work with hockey. Sponsors have dictated the violence get cleaned up, so we did. If I was a sponsor of the WNBA, I’d be disgusted. Why do they get a pass?
Not sure I’ll watch again.
And #3 – Weren’t we all shocked to see the Chicago Blackhawks sign Patrick Kane to a two-year deal at $8-million per on Thursday? I had to sit down and digest it for a minute and realized this is a move by GM Kyle Davidson to cover his butt with a team that’s finished 31st in the league in each of the past three seasons.
Overpaying for a franchise great – well past his prime – to appease the fans and give the young superstar Connor Bedard at least somebody to play with.
I’ve never seen it work before. In fact, I don’t think I’ve seen it at all.

Jason Whitlock has regular routine commentary that is the filth of the WNBA product. It is not the “culture” if female basketball. It is the “culture” of three demographics. If anyone wants a foretaste of female matriarchal leadership with all 3 at the helm. That’s your sociological incubator. Caitlyn Clarke is her own worst enemy. She is trying to appease everyone and in doing so pleases nobody. It is not the Jordan era three channels and republicans buy sneakers too. Disney bought the NFL Network. The NFL Network is influence by Owners. That super bowl was a disaster and the little hats got together. All 30 of the with the two who know the game and no more woke. NBA is losing viewership and got lapped by hockey. To the point Stephen A their mouthpiece is praising hockey which is killing him. I boycotted the Roughriders game. Not sure I am going back.
