A MESSAGE FROM RPS

It's almost here! On Sunday, November 24, 2013, the Saskatchewan Roughriders host Hamilton at the 101st Annual Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium. Fans are encouraged to park away from the stadium or use transit in order to alleviate traffic congestion in the area. The goal of the Regina Police Service is to help everyone get to and from the game in safety, as well as minimize any inconvenience for residents of the neighbourhood around Mosaic Stadium. We will have additional members assigned to manage traffic in the area. We remind motorists to please drive safely and demonstrate patience, especially once fans are leaving the stadium at the end of the game.Please note that road closures and road restrictions around Mosaic Stadium are scheduled start at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 24, with the following exceptions:
                         
· Local resident permit holders
 
· Volunteers
 
· Mosaic Stadium Staff
 
· SaskTel, SaskPower, and City of Regina staff assigned to work at the stadium.
 
· CFL "wrapped" vehicles.
 
All closures and restrictions will remain in effect until the majority of spectators have cleared the area.

Street closures are necessary to expedite City Transit and to maintain an emergency vehicle corridor for police, fire and EMS should the need arise.
 
Other reminders to help everyone enjoy game days include:1) Remove all valuables for your vehicle and lock the doors. Recognize that extra keys and garage door openers are considered "valuable" in the eyes (and hands) of thieves. There will be additional police patrols around the stadium during games to deter theft-from-auto and theft-of-auto but it's always better to remove or reduce the opportunity for crime;2) Respect the neighbourhood. Mosaic Stadium is in a residential neighbourhood and visitors should always ensure they park vehicles legally, refrain from littering and respect the property of others;3) Consider using public transit or car-pooling to make your travel plans easier;4) Don't drink and drive…just don't do it. It's so much easier if you take the guesswork out of it. If you are going to have a few drinks, have someone else (who is sober) do the driving. Just make the plan and then stick to the playbook.5) Dress appropriately! Avoid discomfort and potential harm from the elements by wearing something both green and warm.
 
Police are asking motorists and pedestrians to follow directions, have patience and be courteous to each other. Enjoy Game Day and be safe!
