ABOU THE LATEST TO WEIGH IN ON BO LEVI’S FUTURE
By: Braedyn Wozniak
One day after Ben Hebert told Rod Pedersen that Bo Levi Mitchell would be returning to play in the CFL next year, former Grey Cup Champion Mike Abou-Mechrek joined the Rod Pedersen Show at Grey Eagle Casino to break down where he’s going.
He believes Mitchell to the Saskatchewan Roughriders is a slam dunk.
“No brainer,” said Abou-Mechrek. “The GM that wouldn’t bring Bo Levi Mitchell in shouldn’t be a GM. I think it’s a no brainer.”
Hebert alluded to Mitchell and the Riders being a good fit, and hinted at the possibility of the long-time rivals joining forces.
But with a Roughriders offensive line that hasn’t been able to keep Cody Fajardo upright at all this season and the epic collapse that resulted in them missing the playoffs, the only thing the Riders could offer was a lot of money and a secure place in the spotlight.
That might be enough to persuade the Stampeder legend.
“Hebert says he thinks he could very well go to Sask,” said Pedersen to Abou-Mechrek.
“In other breaking news, the sky is blue,” replied Abou-Mechrek “You got a Hall of Fame quarterback as a back-up. He needs to go to another team. Name another team that needs a quarterback and is willing to back up the big Brinks truck because they want to win every year.”
The other teams potentially in the market for a quarterback this off-season would be Edmonton and the Eastern teams, Hamilton, Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa.
However, only Edmonton and Ottawa are missing the playoffs, and for the other three, their QB picture is reliant on how well Dane Evans, Trevor Harris and McLeod Bethel-Thompson perform for their respective clubs in the playoffs.
The Riders are clearly moving in a new direction from QB Cody Fajardo after benching him for Mason Fine in the most important game of the season last week against Calgary, which they inevitably lost.
Looking to quickly rebuild their team after a disappointing season, signing Bo Levi Mitchell would be a culture shifting move. A new offensive line for him to play behind would also be ideal.
“Rip the band-aid off and start over next year,” said Abou-Mechrek. “Bo Levi Mitchell is a great place to start.”

Mike, Bo is done for, he can’t throw like he used to. Hopefully, he can’t pass the physical so the Riders don’t waste any money on him, like they did with Duke Williams, what a bust! That money could have upgraded the offensive line.
Agreed!
Buyer beware on BLM , I’m telling you that shoulder is cooked.
I keep saying this, VA Jr is a better choice then Bo Levi. These are the only 2 choices out there if the riders dont want Fajardo. That is unless Bo goes elsewhere and that QB is available then. Not a lot of choices out there.
Just watched VA Jr. blow a scoring opportunity. Lions first and ten on Bomber 11 yard line with 22 seconds in first half. VA screwed away 11 seconds before throwing the ball out of bounds. Second down still 11 seconds on the clock. In panic he can’t get the play off in time and loses second down. Lions kick a field goal. This guy’s been in the league 4 or 5 years and still screws up like that. No Thanks.
Quarterbacking is a problem as long as our current OC is there. Everybody is heaping it on the O-line but play selection can slow the pass rush.
