ACCESS 7 THURSDAY EYE-OPENER

The Stanley Cup final is heading back to Florida even at two games apiece. Brandon Saad and Jonathan Toews supplied the offence as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 in Game 4. Alex Killorn scored for the Bolts. Tampa Bay hosts Game 5 Saturday.

The Glendale City Council has put the future of the Arizona Coyotes in doubt by voting 5-2 to end the team’s 15-year, $225 million dollar lease agreement signed by the city and the club’s owners in 2013. Nick Wood, the Coyotes’ outside counsel, said the team will file for injunctive relief, a temporary restraining order, and file a $200 million dollar lawsuit against the city.

Yasiel Puig homered among his four hits, Howie Kendrick singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and Los Angeles beat Arizona 7-6. It’s the seventh straight time the Dodgers have beaten the Diamondbacks.

It’s eight in a row for the Toronto Blue Jays. Scott Copeland pitched seven strong innings in a spot start as Toronto beat the Miami Marlins 7-2 for its eighth straight victory. It also moves the Blue Jays above 500 for the first time since late April.

In the AL East, the Yankees had their seven-game win streak halted, dropping a 5-4 decision to Washington in 11 innings, Baltimore toppled Boston 5-2 and Tampa Bay doubled up the LA Angels 4-2. Toronto sits three games behind New York for top spot in the division.

The Regina Red Sox mounted a late inning comeback to defeat the Moose Jaw Miller Express 8-6 at Currie Field on Wednesday.

A crowd of 366 watched an entertaining game as the Moose Jaw Millers grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning.

Regina tied the game, scoring 4 runs in their half of the 4th.  Moose Jaw regained the lead in the top of the 5th with a towering 2 run homer by Jeremy Stidham.

Starting pitcher Andrew MacMahon went 6 innings for the Red Sox.  He allowed 8 hits and 6 runs while striking out 5 before head coach Scott Douglas went to the bullpen.

Tyler Vavra came on in the 7th and pitched a scoreless inning to pick up the win, before giving way to Skyler Shaw-Fuss in the 8th. Kendal Daniels closed out the contest and picked up the save for the Red Sox.

Next action for the 6-3 Red Sox is Thursday night against the first place Lethbridge Bulls. Game time is 7 pm at Currie Field.

Canada is back on the turf Thursday for the Women’s World Cup. The Canadians will play New Zealand tonight at Commonwealth Stadium in Group A play. Christine Sinclair gave Canada a 1-nil win over China to open the tournament.
