David Perron scored the only goal in the shootout and the Oilers snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the defending Stanley Cup champion LA Kings. Edmonton led 2-0 on goals from Matt Hendricks and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins but couched up the lead in the third period.

The Montreal Canadiens are heating up. Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau scored the winner in a shootout as the Habs beat the Panthers 2-1 in Florida. Brendan Gallagher scored in regulation for Montreal, which has won four games in a row and seven of their last eight. Florida’s Nick Bjugstad tied the game at 18:11 of the third period.

Damian Lillard had 26 points and nine assists and the Portland Trail Blazers rallied to beat the Toronto Raptors 102-97 in overtime. LaMarcus Aldridge, who returned after missing three of the last four games because of an upper respiratory illness, had 23 points and 13 rebounds to give the Blazers their fourth straight victory.

Canadian Andrew Wiggins poured in 21 points but it wasn’t enough to get the Timberwolves out of their recent slide. Gordon Hayward scored 26 points, including 11 in the final four minutes, as Utah rallied to a 100-94 win, handing Minnesota it’s ninth straight loss. Trey Burke set a career high with 26 points.
