ALOUETTES ADD MCELVEEN

The Montreal Alouettes announced on Thursday that the club has signed import defensive lineman Jermaine McElveen to a new two-year deal.

McElveen (6’4”, 265 lbs.) is back in Montreal after spending the first four seasons of his CFL career with the Alouettes from 2008 to 2011. Over that span, the North Chicago, IL native appeared in a total of 52 games, racking up 78 defensive tackles — including 18 quarterback sacks — and a pair of interceptions.

“Jermaine is a character guy. He really cares,” explained Alouettes General Manager and Head Coach Jim Popp. “He’s a versatile defensive lineman who can play inside or outside, and who wants to be in Montreal. We want players who want to be Alouettes, so it’s an excellent fit.”

OK this is getting ridiculous now. How many more players can we lose in order to pay Geroy Simon $170,000/yr. Our cupboard is almost bare now
