Montreal, January 25, 2017 – The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that Catherine Raîche has been appointed the club’s Assistant General Manager of Football Operations, while Joe Mack has been hired as Assistant General Manager of Player Personnel.

“We are fully satisfied to be able to count on such accomplished and qualified people to head up our football operations and player personnel departments,” said Alouettes General Manager Kavis Reed. “Catherine has a great understanding of the business and has rapidly proved that she is ready to take on greater responsibilities, while Joe’s invaluable experience is a welcome addition to our scouting staff.”

Raîche joined the Alouettes in December 2015 as the Coordinator of Football Administration, helping the team in numerous capacities, including tracking the salary cap, negotiating and structuring contracts, team travel as well as many other tasks, which allowed her to rapidly gain invaluable experience. In her new capacities, the 27-year-old will oversee the day-to-day activities of football operations.

Before joining the team on a full time basis, she assisted the football operations department for most of the 2015 season in a consulting role, demonstrating she was a strong asset for the organization. She obtained her law degree from the University of Sherbrooke and was admitted into the Quebec Bar Association in 2012. She practiced corporate and tax law for three years at the law firm Gascon & Associates. The Montreal native has provided a great deal of insight and has injected new ideas into the entire Alouettes organization.

Mack enters his new role as the Alouettes Assistant General Manager of Player Personnel, following a successful career path in both the NFL and CFL, including a Grey Cup championship in Winnipeg in 1984 and winning Super Bowl XXVI with the Washington Redskins. In this new role, he will oversee the team’s player personnel department and manage the team’s scouting department.

Mack’s first experience in the CFL came in 1984, as the Director of Player Personnel for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. During his tenure he helped bring a Grey Cup back to Winnipeg for the first time in 22 years. The Bombers had an impressive overall record of 46-21-1 during his time in Manitoba.

Following his first stint in Winnipeg, he became a Pro Scout for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons in 1987. Mack joined the Washington Redskins two years later, where he was named the team’s Director of Pro Scouting and where his team won Super Bowl XXVI, led by Canadian quarterback Mark Rypien. After five years in Washington, the Levittown, PA native spent four seasons with the expansion Carolina Panthers as Assistant General Manager. Mack then went on to become the interim Director of Player Personnel for the Cleveland Browns.

In 2010, Mack returned to the CFL as the Blue Bombers General Manager and Vice-President of Football Operations, where he led Winnipeg to a Grey Cup championship game in 2011.

The 62-year-old, graduated from Villanova in 1977 with a degree in political science, specializing in international relations. While at Villanova, he played nose tackle and linebacker, where he earned team captain and all-star honours.
