ALOUETTES RE-ACQUIRE TAYLOR
The Montreal Alouettes announced on Tuesday that return specialist Larry Taylor is coming back to where his CFL career started, as the club has acquired the speedster from the Calgary Stampeders as well their fifth-round draft pick in the 2014 CFL Canadian Draft and their conditional fourth-round pick in 2015 in exchange for Montreal’s fifth-round draft pick in the 2014 CFL Canadian Draft and their conditional third-round pick in 2015.
Taylor (5’6”, 181 lbs.) , who also lines up as a receiver, returns to Montreal after spending the last three seasons in Calgary. The 28-year-old began his professional career with the Alouettes in 2008, earning the CFL’s Special Teams Player of the Year Award the following season. He finished the 2009 season with 1,971 combined yards, the most in the CFL, while also scoring three touchdowns.
“We welcome Larry back into the nest. Having obtained another one of our originals and one of the most exciting players in the CFL gives us great competition and depth at the WR and Returner positions,” said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp.
Last year, the Fort Lauderdale, FL native returned 53 kickoffs for gains of 1,147 yards and 82 punts for gains of 615 yards, earning a spot on the West Division All-Star team.
OK the Saunders arrival makes sense in Stampederland. I am betting Saunders who could not be an upgrade on Larry Taylor, probably saves Calgary money. The actual trade with Montreal shows Taylor's value in the trade to be nothing more than the difference between a no.3 draft pick and no, 4. My earlier comments even though they are harsh. I see what has happened…plain and simple the Stampeders doing a number on the Riders….if it works they may get ahead of us.
