ALOUETTES REPORT
Sherbrooke, June 2, 2014 – For the second day in a row on Monday, the Montreal Alouettes trained under a hot sun on Coulter Field at Bishop’s University.
The offence started the day off strong, when Kenny Stafford, the second-year Alouettes receiver and cousin to Duron Carter, caught a long pass from Troy Smith and ran it back to the end zone at the very beginning of a simulated game situation drill.
The Montreal defence meanwhile, which led the CFL in most defensive categories last season, saw convincing play from Geoff Tisdale, who was first in the league with seven interceptions in 2013, picking off QBs Collin Klein and Troy Smith once each in the day’s two practices.
Still Undefeated
New Alouettes head coach Tim Higgins continues to be all smiles in his return to the sidelines, even getting a laugh out of the media on-hand when he assessed where his team was at on the second day of training camp.
“Two days and we’re still undefeated. All is good,” said Higgins.

Defensive back Jerald Brown is expected to rejoin his teammates on the field on Tuesday… Chad Johnson continues to look good at work, catching most of the passes thrown his way, including a long one from Troy Smith with his back to the play… Alouettes fans are invited to attend each of the team’s practices at training camp, including an intra-squad game that will be played on Coulter Field on Saturday, June 7, starting from 11:00 a.m… Over 30 kids from a local day camp attended practice on Monday, including some that made the trip just to see fan-favourite Kyries Hebert, holding a homemade “Thank You #34” sign.
