ALOUETTES UPDATE HEAD COACH SITUATION

Montreal Alouettes owner Bob Wetenhall issued the following statement today, in reference to the Club’s decision process in selecting its Head Coach:

“I am currently taking the time necessary to review all the options and opportunities with respect to both the position of Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator of our team for the coming year. We always want these decisions to be informed and well thought out, as they have far reaching affects on our organization, how we run our franchise and our ability to sustain our on-field success over the long-term.”

“My family and I will make this decision, in consultation with our Chairman, and CEO, once we are satisfied that we have identified the best solution for the success of our franchise.”

“As always, we are dedicated to doing whatever is necessary to give our team the best possible chance of winning a championship every year. We are doing these evaluations with the many available qualified candidates within a thoughtful and measured timeframe, anticipating an announcement for both positions in the coming weeks. Our fans have been very supportive of our Club and deserve a winning product. We are committed to providing them with nothing less.”

Interesting the owner does not mention the GM in the process of the hiring coaches- does this mean Popp is out of the picture?

Hmmm, Montreal Alouettes shared duties of Head Coach/Offense Coodinator, Mr Anthony Calvillo along aide Mr Jim Popp.

Go Alouettes 2014.

Calvillo isn't ready to be a coordinator, but he will be a hell of a coach in a few years.

He's as ready as anyone can be, cerebral smarts, plus the very fact he played the game as a record setting QB, what more can you ask for. Other QB's have made the transition and have been very successful, he won't be the first, won't be the last. It's up to him.

With the end result of a first class trip to the basement of the east division in 2014.

I would say this means Wetenhall is reviewing Pop as head coach. As I understand it Pop would like to remain as HC.
I doubt there will be any change with Pop as GM. I would doubt that Calvillo would be installed as OC.

Calvillo has to start somewhere, like everyone else, got to get your feet wet. Calvillo couldn't be any worse then Milanovich and others who have proven themselves capable of the coaching fraternity ranks.

It's not high school football. You don't step directly from the field to that position. To say he is as ready as anyone can be is crazy. Like what does that even mean? He has never coached a game in his life, but he is ready as anyone???

Please name one QB who has gone from the field to coordinator directly and been very successful?

Thanks

What kind of coordinator? Doesn't take a genius to be a coordinator. Please coordinate your thought process a little more clearly when you post, your all over the place with no coordination to your comments. Thank you.
