ARGOS EXTEND DURIE

The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is pleased to announce that non-import RB/SB Andre Durie has extended his contract with the club through the 2016 season.  Durie was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2007 and has spent his entire career in Double Blue.

Commented Argonauts General Manager Jim Barker, “We believe Andre Durie is one of the most talented players in our league, and he’s Canadian. He has been a very productive member of our offence and a strong contributor on special teams. Andre has proven to be a valuable member of the Toronto community and we’re excited to keep him at home to continue his work on and off the field.”

Durie enjoyed his most productive season in the CFL in 2013. He experienced career-highs on offence while leading the Argos in receiving yards (986) and finishing second on the team, and second in the CFL, in receptions with 92 (just two behind fellow Argonauts teammate Chad Owens). The Mississauga, Ontario native was first in the CFL with 718 yards after catch.

Commented Andre Durie, “I would first like to thank the Toronto Argonauts organization for giving me the opportunity to stay in Double Blue for three more years. In 2007, the team believed in me and gave me a chance to play the game I truly love, even after an injury that nearly ended my career.

“I can’t thank Jim Barker, Scott Milanovich and Michael Clemons enough for the influential roles each have played in developing me as a player, a man and an athlete that serves the Toronto community. I am very proud and excited to continue my career as an Argonaut and I will continue to play like every game could be my last for my city and this organization.”
