BENEVIDES OUT, QUICK POSSIBLY IN

Mike Benevides will not coach in the CFL in 2015, meaning the Saskatchewan Roughriders are still looking for a defensive coordinator and that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers likely will go with Richie Hall as their’s.
Benevides, the former BC Lions head coach, was offered the defensive coordinator position by the Riders during the holiday season. He was also in talks with Winnipeg to run the Blue Bombers defence.
But in a text message to Sportsnet on Friday morning, Benevides indicated he will stay out of the high-pressure professional football environment next season, opting for more family time in 2015.
“I’ve decided that the best decision for me at this time is to focus on being a husband and a father,” Benevides wrote.
Saskatchewan parted ways with Hall at the end of the 2014 season. Winnipeg the same with Gary Etcheverry in December.
On New Years eve, Sportsnet reported that the Blue Bombers and Hall were negotiating contract terms to make him the team’s next defensive coordinator. It is believed both Benevides (from Saskatchewan) and Hall (Winnipeg) were offered two-year terms from each team.

Meanwhile a source tells 620 CKRM that Montreal Alouettes linebackers coach Greg Quick had a strong interview with the Roughriders this week and could be in the mix to replace Richie Hall as Defensive Coordinator.
The Riders plan to make an announcement on the hiring of their new D.C. next week.

Well played Mr Benevedes. He's now put himself on the market to replace the Head Coach to get fired as he's the likely replacement. If he's still under contract to B.C then sit and collect paychecks. I also don't believe he wants to hitch his wagon Chamblin as after this season he's likely going to be moving on.
Unlike the Benevides process, the next step by the Riders will be a Quick one.
Anon #1: Why would you think Chamblin is moving on? Is this just to get a reaction? Some Rider fans man, you gotta wonder about the size of the hamster turning the wheel.
Just read a bit on Quick and was impressed. May be a very positive addition to the Riders. Now really looking forward to 2015.
Can he bring Bear Woods with him?

Quick will only be a good coach if Chamblin lets him do the job…. If Chamblin still calls the plays, why bother – save the money on a coaching position, and use that money for scouting !
Have to wonder if Chamblin’s involvement in the D the last few years had anything to do with his decision. Some coaches want want control of what they do.
He's a drama queen, period.
Quick was the Als LB coach. Did he make Chip Cox, Kyries Hebert and Bear Woods great or did they make him look good? That's got to be the league's best group of LBs even better than Eliminium, Bighill and whoever out in B.C..

Yeah Chamblin's involvement is why Bene turned down the Winnipeg position. You didn't think that one out that well did ya.
Also, Richie is so well garnered that even Winnipeg didn't want him as first choice but now may be stuck with him.
If you were paying attention, it was reported in mid-December that MB may not coach due to personal reasons. Don't think Chamblin was blindsided.
