NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is visiting Winnipeg to watch Tuesday’s Jets game against the St. Louis Blues.

He’s holding a press conference with local media two hours before the game, when he’s expected to talk about the Jets’ decreasing season-ticket numbers and address the club’s future viability.

Bettman will then go to ice level and talk to fans, as well as answer some of their questions submitted ahead of time.

The day Wab Kinew and that NDP group got elected in Manitoba. That was the beginning of the end for the Winnipeg Jets 2.0. There is no money earmarked for any type of infastructure improvement. The money that could enhance downtown Winnipeg through a Municipal deal. That money is now earmarked to go search a garbage dump. At the end of the day we’re 24 years into this century and the 1990s are long gone and over. The kids today could careless about going to events. It’s all streaming now. The Jets filled a hole until the dynamics and economics… Read more »

Heartstrings and a season ticket drive will not keep this team. This market is not Edmonton nor is it Calgary. I’ve been to Winnipeg twice this winter and probably headed to the March 30 game vs Ottawa. It’s a great building, incredible fans, and there should be a lineup to want to play there. With that said – numbers matter. Phoenix isn’t going anywhere simply do to that TV market, and if they do leave it’s a matter of time before expansion lands there again. Winnipeg go there team back because Atlanta was worse off than Winnipeg 1.0 and he… Read more »

The only thing keeping the Jets in Winnipeg is the idea that the NHL will miss out on an expansion team somewhere else. They make more money on expansion than relocation. I wish it wasn’t true, I want the Jets to succeed, but Winnipeg is going to Winnipeg in the end. Eventually the owners will cry uncle and say we’re not running this as a public service and the miserly glass half empty types will celebrate because, well, they like it when things go to pot. Simple and predictable. It’s tax time… check your bill owing Sask vs Manitoba. It… Read more »

If the Jets think having Bettman come and lecture the fans is going to help win back folks they truly really are out of touch. The Jets put no effort into fan experience or retention for years (similar to the riders if we are being honest) because every game was a sellout. Funny to see Bettman rushing to Winnipeg while his Coyotes play in a major junior level arena. Chipman’s leadership got them into this mess hopefully it can get them out too because the other owners want to cash expansion checks not relocation pittances
