BLADES CLEAN HOUSE

SASKATOON, SK – The Saskatoon Blades are embarking on a course that will change the face of the franchise. The Blades are looking for a new General Manager and Head Coach for the 2014-15 season and beyond.

G.M. Lorne Molleken and the team have agreed to part ways and the contract for Head Coach Dave Struch is not being renewed. The Blades will immediately start searching for candidates with a rich experience in the game and a tradition of winning. As the search commences, Molleken will stay on with the Blades to help guide them through this period of transition.

The Blades would also like to thank Curtis Leschyshyn for his time and commitment over the last two seasons. Curtis is moving on to help coach the Midget-AAA Saskatoon Blazers, where his son Jake will play next season.

The entire Saskatoon Blades organization, along with Managing Partner Colin Priestner and President Steve Hogle sincerely thank these men for all they’ve done for our players, the city of Saskatoon and the game of hockey.

I'm hearing Darrel Mann is the front runner for head coach.

James Fiesel would be the best bet, he deserves a shot and knows his stuff, it would be great if it worked out for him.

What happened with Cory Clouston? Isn't he still the coach in PA?

Would have to figure Trent Cassan from Yorkton gets a look as well. 4 league final appearances winning 1 in his 5 years of being the head coach. Brockman would be the favourite however he signed a large extension so it's unlikely he goes anywhere.

brockman would be the best bet, but they are going to want to bring in a big name guy. they want to make a statement with this hire. as great as brockman has been they will want a name to help bring in the best players.

It won't be anyone local as Blades coach. It's an Edmonton ownership group. It'll be a coach from Spruce Grove or Sherwood Park or Drayton Valley if the coach comes from junior A……..and isn't named Dean Clark.

A big org like Stoon isn't bringing in a JR A guy to be their coach. Maybe as assist coach but now way as the head man. That just doesn't cut it these days. Think bigger.

Darrel Mann. I just about pissed myself. Mind you, with the gong show in Saskatoon, that would probably the perfect choice in the category of 'it just gets weirder and weirder'.

Whatever happened to Chad Mercier? Is he out of hockey? I know he was in the Blades organization before having a good run as head coach in the AJHL.

I believe Mercier is working as a personal fitness trainer in Bonnyville and doing some consulting work in the oil & gas field following a short stint he had in that field some time ago.

Chad Mercier sells signage.

Thing big, and there are a lot of guys out there.

Saskatoon is no different in Regina. It's one hire away from being the equivalent of hiring a dynamite keg.

This hire, will have to convince the top prospects to pass on NCAA, and develop in a true professional system.

Molleken will be out of hockey as long as he wants, until a team is desparate enough to hire him for stability.

Pats fans referring to a "Gong Show" in Saskatoon? Might want to look in the mirror first!

I think the new Blades ownership group made a mistake letting Lorne go. Then again I disagree with the people breaking their ankles jumping off the Pats bandwagon.

Lang and Cameron are bringing in a winning culture to the Pats. I took the Riders a couple of years to be successful and the same applies to the Pats.

People seem to forget where this team is coming from and what the have accomplished so far.

GO PATS GO.

Long, long overdue. This organization needed a complete overhaul and this is a good start. I didn't see Jerome Engel's name mentioned but I do believe that he should go also. For many, many years this club has been owned and run by far to many friends and relatives of the past owner ( Brodsky) and it just doesn't work that way. Here we are sitting with a great Arena that will hold over 15,000 fans and we are lucky to get 4000 out to most games. Please take your time and find someone who can lead this team to many good… Read more »

Any Pat fan that feels bad about having owners like the Parkers can take comfort in that fact that the Preistner Circus in Saskatoon is about to get underway.
Colin Preistner who is listed as a managing partner is quoted today as saying he will be in the dressing room everyday.

Remind you of anything??
