BOMBER PUNTER RETIRES
After six seasons in the Canadian Football League, all with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, punter Mike Renaud has announced his retirement. Renaud played in 86 games over those six seasons, and finishes his career 4thall-time in Bombers punting yardage. He completes his CFL tenure with 28,490 yards punted, a 2010 East Division All-Star nod, and having played as big of an impact on the field, as he did off of it. Entrenched in the community during his time in Winnipeg, Renaud was involved in many initiatives throughout his tenure with the Bombers. In May of 2014, he was presented with the Athletes in Action Gord Barwell Award, presented to a CFL player who exhibits exemplary Christian conduct and leadership both on and off of the field. “I throughout enjoyed my time in Winnipeg,” said Renaud. “I really, honestly, cherished my time as a Bomber, and love the organization. It’s a place I wanted my career to end when that time did come. It’s time to move on, and enjoy life after football.” Renaud was originally acquired in a trade with Calgary in June of 2009. “Mike has been a great asset for this organization, both on and off the field, for quite some time now,” said General Manager Kyle Walters. “He had a great career as a member of our organization and was a real pro all the way through. He’s a real team-first type of player and those are the guys you look to build around. We wish Mike and his family the best moving forward.” “Mike Renaud exemplified great professionalism in all avenues of our game, both on and off the field, ” said Blue Bombers President and CEO Wade Miller. “In our community, he was a great advocate for many different positive influences all around Manitoba.
