BOMBERS EXTEND TURNER, RELEASE DEANGELIS
Winnipeg Blue Bombers General Manager Kyle Walters is pleased to announce today that defensive tackle Bryant Turner has extended his contract with the football club, which will keep him in Blue and Gold through 2016.
Walters also announced today the club has released non-import kicker Sandro DeAngelis.
The 2014 season will be Turner's fourth with the Blue Bombers, who has emerged as one of the elite defensive tackles in the Canadian Football League. He finished the 2013 season tied for the team lead in sacks with seven, starting all 16 games he was available – missing two due to injury. He finished the season with 14 tackles, seven sacks and two fumble recoveries. Turner was named defensive player of the week in week two for a two tackle, three sack performance in a win over Montreal.
He was once again an East Division All-Star for the second straight season, and was also named a CFL All-Star in 2012 after racking up 20 tackles, six sacks and one fumble recovery.
Man that Kyle Walters is ageius GM? How'd he manage to negotiate a 3-yr deal with a "free agent" (wink wink, nudge nudge) all-star DE just 3 days after the expansion draft?!
Whoops I meant to type "genious GM" above. Perils of typing on a mobile device
G e n i u s !!!!!!!!!!
Spelling cop !
Whats with Sandro? He gets released every year, but always finds a job.
Go Bombers Go !
Go Bombers Go !
Go Bombers Go !
Surprised that sandro that suitecase got released
Wonder if Sandro was schedulled to get a bonus at year end. Ottawa would be wise to pick him up since they do not have any kickers…..wonder if there are other kickers at this level out there.
Or maybe try "genius."
