BOMBERS NAME BELLEFEUILLE O.C.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Head Coach Mike O’Shea announced today Marcel Bellefeuille has been named the team’s offensive coordinator.

“Marcel brings a wealth of experience and success to our offensive and I am very pleased he has accepted the position of offensive coordinator,” said O’Shea. “Having worked with some of our players already, and having a grasp on the type of organization we are trying to build, I feel Marcel is the right fit for this position.”

“I’m really thrilled about joining Mike’s staff and continuing to work in an organization steeped in tradition like Winnipeg,” said Bellefeuille “The fans and the city are very passionate about football and we look forward to bringing them a solid offensive unit in 2014 and beyond.”

Bellefeuille re-joins the Blue Bombers after finishing the season as the team’s offensive coordinator. Prior to this, he served three seasons as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ head coach from 2009-2011.

Taking over in mid-2008 as head coach, Bellefeuille transformed Hamilton’s offence from the bottom two in the CFL into a consistently productive group,  generating over 26 points per game. He led the club to a 26-28 record over his three full seasons as head coach after they had gone 10-44 from 2006 to 2008, an improvement of 16 wins. He guided his team to the playoffs in each of his three full seasons at the helm, including an appearance in the East Final in 2011.

Bellefeuille was originally hired by the Tiger-Cats to be their offensive coordinator in 2008 after successful stints in the same capacity with the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He began his CFL coaching career in 2001 with the Roughriders.

Prior to joining the CFL, Bellefeuille won a Vanier Cup as head coach of the Ottawa Gee-Gee’s in 2000.

Seriously? Starting to feel sorry for a loyal(don't know why) fan base.

well, there will be plenty of handoffs up the middle and plenty of wide receiver hitch passes.

Maybe one or two other plays!

I get the feeling that no one, including coaches and players, want to go to Winnipeg. Just saying.

A little respect. As Hamilton's OC, Bellefeuille helped us win the Grey Cup this year.

Bellefeuille has not been in Hamilton since 2010. Not sure how he helped the Riders win the Grey Cup since he has been gone from Hamilton for awhile.
