BULLS CLAIM WMBL CHAMPIONSHIP IN REGINA

The Regina Red Sox gallantly battled until their last out, but it was not enough as the Lethbridge Bulls won game 3 by a count of 4-3. 650 fans were on hand to witness Lethbridge sweep a determined Regina squad in the best of five WMBL championship series.

In the ninth inning, the Red Sox had their rally caps on. The Queen City kids came back from a 4-1 deficit to close the gap to 4-3. The Red Sox had a chance to extend the series as they had runners on second and third, but Bulls closer Chris Stodolka got Brandon Vaughn to line out to centre field to end the game and the season.

Lethbridge managed four runs on 15 hits while the Red Sox scored three runs on just five hits. The Bulls also committed two errors.

Bulls starter Kyle Olliges pitched 8.1 very strong innings to pick up the final victory in the 2015 season. Mike Thill was tagged with the loss.
