Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker says taxpayers would pick up half the cost of a 500 million dollar arena for the Milwaukee Bucks under a financial deal that would rely on current and former team owners for the rest. Walker has argued for months that it will cost the state more in lost income-tax revenue if the NBA team leaves Milwaukee than it will to pay for a new downtown arena.

The Regina Red Sox won their second road game in a row with a convincing 7-1 victory over the Swift Current Indians.
Tanner Stokey led the Red Sox offensive outburst with 2 hits, 3 runs, a walk and an RBI. Brandon Vaughn added to the Red Sox run total with a 2 run homer in the 5th.
The Red Sox pitching staff was also strong as winning pitcher Andrew MacMahon went 6 innings giving up only 3 hits while facing 22 batters.
Jeremy Sylvester added a shutout inning before giving way to Skyler Fuss who blanked the Indians in the final two innings.
The win improves the Red Sox record to 3-2 as they head to Edmonton this weekend for a pair of games against the Prospects at Telus Field.

Erasmo Ramirez beat his former team, combining with four relievers to help the Tampa Bay Rays defeat the Seattle Mariners 2-1. The Rays have won three straight while the Mariners have dropped six in a row.

A coach’s challenge system is one step closer to being a reality in the NHL. The joint NHL/NHL Players’ Association competition committee recommended coach’s challenges for goals involving goaltender interference and offside plays. Like the NFL, a coach must have his timeout in order to challenge.

Look out Tiger. Cheyenne Woods – Tiger’s niece – tied a course record with a 9-under 63 in the opening round of the LPGA Classic at Whistle Bear Golf Club. She sits in a three-way tie for first after 18 holes. The top Canadian on the day was Hamilton, Ontario’s Alena Sharp, who carded a 5-under 67.
