CAMCO PLUMBING WEDNESDAY EYE-OPENER

The Edmonton Oilers are playing the role of spoiler. Matt Fraser scored a pair of goals as Edmonton dealt the playoff hopes of the L-A Kings a massive blow, earning a 4-2 victory. Los Angeles now trails Winnipeg by three points and the Calgary Flames by two points with only two games remaining for all three teams in the hunt for the final two playoff spots in the Western Conference. The Kings loss clinches a playoff spot for the Vancouver Canucks.

Also, Sean Monahan had the winner in the third period as the Calgary Flames picked up two important points with a 3-2 victory over Arizona. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 30 shots for his second consecutive shutout and the Winnipeg Jets strengthened their bid for a playoff spot with a 1-0 victory over St. Louis. And Mark Stone scored in overtime as the Ottawa Senators beat Pittsburgh 4-3 to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Veteran knuckleballer R-A Dickey will take the mound this evening as the Toronto Blue Jays continue their series against the New York Yankees in the Bronx. The Yankees counter with Michael Pineda. Toronto won the first game of the three-game series 6-1 on Monday.

Wil Myers is already making his presence felt with his new team. Myers keyed a four-run ninth inning with a tiebreaking single as San Diego beat the Dodgers 7-3.

Adam Jones drove in two with a double during a four-run first inning and the Baltimore Orioles hung on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5. Steve Pearce homered for the second straight game, a two-run drive that made it 6-0 in the second for Orioles.

Sacramento Kings backup centre Sim Bhullar made history when he became the first player of Indian descent to play in an NBA game. Bhullar, who was born in Toronto, checked in with 16.1 seconds remaining in the Kings’ 116-111 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. A crowd of 16,770 gave the 7-foot-5 Bhullar a standing ovation when he replaced Jason Thompson.

The Toronto Raptors hope to snap a two-game losing skid tonight in Charlotte. It’s the first game in a four-stop road trip for Toronto as it closes out the regular season. The Raptors will finish the season in Toronto on April 15th when they host the Hornets.
