CAMECO’S H.D.I.S. EARNS WADENA $101,111

WADENA – After hosting Cameco Hockey Day in Saskatchewan last week, the organizing committee in Wadena is proud to announce a fundraising total of $101,111.
The five-day hockey festival attracted large crowds and plenty of community support, which helped push the
fundraising total above the committee’s goal of $80,000.

“During a Wadena minor sports meeting last year the thought of hosting Cameco Hockey Day in Saskatchewan was brought up,” said Kent Armbruster, the chair of the local organizing committee.

“We decided to apply for the event because our rink is bursting at the seams with 12 teams playing out of it. Built in
the 1960s, it is starting to show its age.

“Right from the time we found out we would host Cameco Hockey Day in Saskatchewan, we had volunteers stepping up to help. The amount of donations we received from local businesses also shows how great a community this is.”

The committee plans to use the money for improvements to the local arena.
