CARDINALS 5 RED SOX 3

The second place Yorkton Cardinal defeated the Regina Red Sox 5-3 in WMBL action Thursday night at Currie Field.  Regina is now mired in a nine game losing streak.

Lefty Tommy Lay made the start for the Red Sox. He was chased from the game after facing 28 batters over 6.1 innings.  Lay, who took the loss,  gave up 10 hits and five runs while striking out three Yorkton batters.

Jeremy Sylvester made his 13th relief appearance of the season throwing two innings before giving way to local product Kendal Daniels in the ninth.

Brandon Vaughn and Gabby Montero each had two hits for the Red Sox in a losing cause.

Another great crowd of 559 enjoyed an almost perfect night for baseball at Currie Field.

Next action for the Red Sox is Friday night in Swift Current. They will continue their road trip over the weekend with games in Melville and Yorkton before returning home to face Moose Jaw on Tuesday.
