CARDINALS 8 RED SOX 5
On a raining night at Currie Field, Red Sox fans were treated to an exciting WMBL baseball game as the Yorkton Cardinals defeated Regina 8-5 in extra innings.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early 5-1 lead before Regina rallied with 4 runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game 5-5. Yorkton broke out for three runs in the top of the 10th inning to secure the victory.
Ryan Lambrecht led the Red Sox offensive attack going 3 for 4 with a walk and a run.
Red Sox starter Adam Prashad had a rough outing giving up five runs on seven hits. He also struck out nine Cardinal batters. Reliever Seth Sorensen gave the Red Sox a chance by throwing two shutout innings before giving way to Caleb Dunn. Dunn took the loss after allowing four hits and three runs over two innings.
Yorkton got 8 strong innings from starter Gavin Collins, who faced 33 batters allowing 7 hits and two walks. Collins also fanned 11 Red Sox hitters. Richard England got credit for the win.
Regina ended the night with 10 hits while Yorkton registered 11.
Next up for the 1-1 Red Sox is a home date with Moose Jaw Millers on Thursday night.
