CARDINALS NIP RED SOX

The battle for second place went into extra innings Sunday afternoon.

Yorkton scored in the bottom of the 12th inning to slip by the Regina Red Sox 3-2 in the WMBL matinee at Jubilee Park. The Cardinals’ game winning run came on a balk from Geoff Seto, who made a rare pitching appearance for Regina.

Zach Weatherford continued to be an offensive force for the Red Sox as he scored two runs and had two hits in a losing cause. Gabe Snyder and Brandon Vaughn also tapped out a pair of hits each for the visiting squad.

With the loss, Regina dropped their season record to 14-20 while Yorkton improved to 16-19.

Next action for the Red Sox will be Tuesday night when the Moose Jaw Millers visit Currie Field.
