CARROLL: “SHERMAN IS APOLOGETIC”

RENTON, Wash.(AP) – Seattle coach Pete Carroll says after speaking with Richard Sherman the fiery cornerback was apologetic that his rant against San Francisco’s Michael Crabtree overshadowed the Seahawks reaching their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Carroll said the pair spoke Monday a day after Sherman deflected a pass intended for Crabtree and was intercepted by teammate Malcolm Smith in the closing seconds of Seattle’s 23-17 win over the 49ers to win the NFC championship.

Sherman lit up social media after his shouting postgame interview with Fox reporter Erin Andrews then didn’t back down from his comments toward Crabtree, later calling him “mediocre.”

Carroll described his view of the conversation between the pair as a father speaking to his son. Carroll said Sherman is a very emotional player and that’s what drives him, but he wanted to make sure Sherman presented himself in the best light.

Who's going to speak to Carroll about being a goof?

Sherman's comments were ridiculous. People who make it to this level of professional sports should be carrying themselves much more positively. Frankly what I saw was a boy from the American slums, bringing forward anger, yes he directd it at Crabtree, but my bet is the man is just angry period. Being a professional athlete is about being a role model for the young boys of the world……and yes Torterelli is in the same category. Look at the Cory Chamblin's of the world, Kent Austin's Gordie Howe's Wayne Gretzkie's….you would never se this from them.

Slums?

This guy went to Stanford and qualified both athletically and academically. This was all by design to get him into the mainstream. He writes on MMQB for Peter King. Regardless where he comes from he's no hoodrat believe me

And if he would've gave the cookie cutter answer, you would bitch at him for being boring. Press got something to build on and that's the price you pay for interviewing someone after such a big play.

Sherman just branded the Seahawks as the team you now want to see lose the Super Bowl with his unsportsman like conduct on world wide national television. Go John Elway and the Denver Broncos.
