CARTER WORKS OUT FOR CARDINALS, LIONS MAKE MORE MOVES
620 CKRM Regina reports Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Duron Carter has completed his first NFL workout.
CKRM reported on Monday that Carter worked out for the Arizona Cardinals this week.
Carter had an excellent regular season with Saskatchewan making 73 grabs for 1,043 yards and eight touchdowns, the latter two statistics were career highs. Jones has created an atmosphere where Carter can be himself and it’s been productive for both the player and team. Carter is a free agent after this season.
The son of Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Cris Carter has had one NFL stint already. After two stellar seasons with Montreal in 2013 and 2014, Carter was signed by the Indianapolis Colts, but he was not retained after the 2015 season.
Over 58 games in the three-down league, the 26-year-old has 258 receptions for 3,920 yards – over 67 yards per game – and 25 touchdowns.

VANCOUVER – The B.C. Lions have signed receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux to a contract for the 2018 season.
The seven-year CFL veteran had 100 catches for 1,137 yards and six touchdowns last season with the Lions. He was eligible to enter free agency in February.
“Signing Emmanuel is a significant step toward our goal of keeping our core of talented and productive veterans, as well as building the most talented roster possible for 2018,” general manager Ed Hervey said in a release. “He is one of the CFL’s premier receivers and his leadership is a critical part of the culture we want in our dressing room.”
The two-time CFL all-star has 524 receptions for 7,616 receiving yards and 54 touchdowns over his career, all spent with the Lions. His career reception total puts him second all-time to Geroy Simon’s 904 while his receiving yards place him third behind Simon (14,756) and Jim Young (9,248).

BC Lions GM Ed Hervey announced Monday that Torey Hunter has been named the club’s new Director of Player Personnel and Player Development. Hunter had been a regional scout on the staff of the Edmonton Eskimos for the past four seasons.
A graduate of Washington State and a draft selection of the Houston Oilers, Hunter played defensive back with both the Eskimos and Montreal Alouettes before moving into the NCAA coaching ranks in 2002. Serving on coaching staffs at Western Washington, Idaho State, Central Washington, Eastern Washington and Idaho, Torey made his way back to the CFL in 2014 with Edmonton.
“I am very pleased to be adding Torey to our personnel staff,” said Hervey, who was named Lions general manager last week. “He understands the kind of unique talent we need to be successful in the CFL and I’m confident he will be a tremendous asset to our organization as we begin the process of building our team.”
Hervey also confirmed that Neil McEvoy will remain in place as the Lions’ Director of Football Operations while Geroy Simon will retain his duties as the Director of Canadian Scouting and add the title of CFL Draft Coordinator to his portfolio. Director of U.S. Scouting, Ryan Rigmaiden will also return in his current role.
