The Los Angeles Clippers announced Saturday that they have signed Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) guard Xavier Moon to a two-way contract.  Moon becomes the third player to have played with a team to later be signed to a two-way NBA contract after Canadian Lindell Wigginton of the Hamilton Honey Badgers signed with NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks and Xavier Sneed of the Niagara River Lions signed with the Utah Jazz earlier this year. Moon had previously secured three 10-day contracts with Los Angeles between December 2021 and January 2022.

The Goodwater, Al native has appeared in 19 games with the Clippers NBA G League affiliate, Agua Caliente, averaging 18.7 points, 6.7 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals this season. He also averaged 5.5 points, 1.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds, and 13.9 minutes in six NBA games with the Clippers.

During his three seasons with the Edmonton Stingers, Moon has averaged 20.9 points and was the CEBL scoring champion in three consecutive seasons. He averaged a league best 23.1 points in the 2021 season on his way to winning his third consecutive CEBL Player of the Year award honours while also being named to the All-CEBL First team. Moon is also a back-to-back CEBL champion with Edmonton.

“I feel so proud to see Xavier secure a contract in the NBA,” said Mike Morreale, CEO and Commissioner, CEBL. “It means a lot for the CEBL family to see him perform at such an elite level in our league and now to go on to secure a contract at the highest level. Xavier is most deserving and I wish him all the best”.

The CEBL has now graduated five players onto an NBA roster this season including Xavier Moon, Edmonton Stingers (six games played for the Los Angeles Clippers), Javin DeLaurier, Niagara River Lions (one game played with Milwaukee), Cat Barber (three games played with Atlanta), Xavier Sneed (five games played with Memphis) and Lindell Wigginton, Hamilton Honey Badgers (15 games played with Milwaukee).

Three players with prior NBA experience have played in the CEBL. They include Brianté Weber, Hamilton Honey Badgers (42 games total with Memphis, Miami, Golden State, Charlotte, Houston), Kris Joseph, Niagara River Lions and Ottawa BlackJacks (10 games total with Boston, Brooklyn), and Xavier Rathan-Mayes, Hamilton Honey Badgers, (five games with Memphis).
