Celebrating 20 Years

Today is a significant Milestone for yours truly (pun intended).
March 19, 2026 marks 20 years in business for the website RodPedersen.com. Oh boy, oh boy, a lot has changed in the world, and in my life, since then.
Just before Facebook became popular, and long before Twitter came around, I started RodPedersen.com at the time, largely, because it seemed like the thing to do.
It’s a joke that some of us in the Sask hockey media industry at the time still bring up today; Swift Current Broncos coach & GM Dean Chynoweth saying, “Everyone’s got a blog these days.”
The very first blog post I ever made – 20 years ago today – was entitled, “Lordy, Lordy, look who’s got 40” as Curtis Hunt’s Regina Pats miraculously achieved 40 wins with a victory at Medicine Hat.
Of course I was the Voice of the Roughriders at the time too, and the 2006 CFL season was Danny Barrett’s and Roy Shivers’ last in control of the Green & White.
That provided a lot of fodder, and traffic, for RodPedersen.com as I recall.
Literally 40-million-plus hits later, hardly anybody has a blog anymore. But everyone’s got a podcast. That fad has lasted a helluva lot longer than I thought it would.
As for this website, it’s survived a lot of attacks and attempted takeovers and maybe that’ll all be part of a great book some day. But we keep chugging along, posting daily, trying to keep folks entertained and informed. It literally is the backbone of all my media efforts.
And we continue to punch above our weight in a very crowded sports media world.
Thanks for your support over the years.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
