HAMILTON – The man who epitomized toughness and tenacity with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats is a huge fan of the club’s staunch defence.
On Thursday night, the Ticats will retire Angelo Mosca’s No. 68, making him only the second player in franchise history to receive the honour.
The other is legendary quarterback Bernie Faloney, whose No. 10 was retired in 1999.
Mosca was a defensive tackle with Hamilton in 1958-59 and from 1963 until retiring after leading the Ticats to the ’72 Grey Cup title.
Mosca appeared in nine Grey Cup games, sharing the CFL record for most appearances, winning five.
Mosca says he admires the Ticats’ rugged defence, which is regarded as one of the CFL’s best this season.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats dominated the Edmonton Eskimos Friday night and now they’re dominating the CFL Top Performer awards.
Defensive back Mike Daly, quarterback Zach Collaros and wide receiver Terrell Sinkfield Jr. were all honoured on Tuesday after Hamilton’s 49-20 win over the Eskimos on Friday.
Daly had two interceptions, seven defensive tackles, a forced fumble, and a quarterback sack in the Ticats fifth straight victory.
Collaros threw three touchdown passes and scored another on a quarterback sneak. He completed 18 of his 30 pass attempts and converted that into 325 passing yards.
Sinkfield Jr. caught two of Collaros’s TD passes and totalled 118 receiving yards.

Not that anybody here likely cares, but I find it hard to believe that Hamilton will have retired the numbers of Angelo Mosca and Bernie Faloney but not John Barrow and Garney Henley.
Barrow was a 12X Eastern All-Star and in 1967 was named the CFL lineman of the century.
Henley was 10X Eastern All-Star, won the MOP, and in 2005 was voted the sixth-best all-time player.
I guess offensive players (Faloney) and, uh, *offensive* players (Mosca) get all the attention.
…and Lineman of the Century! I always thought Mosca received far more credit than Barrow who was a better player proven by his record. Barrow was team captain, played his entire career with the Tiger-Cats and went on to become the GM for the Argonauts while Mosca played for 3 teams and went into wrestling. JB jersey should be retired and a Trophy in his name for the CFL’s Best Defensive Player would be appropriate. Ditto for Garney who I think was the MVP all-time for the Cats. Nice to see those Eskimos get brought back down to earth. Once again Willis runs his mouth and gets embarassed. There is a reason why that guy only lasted one year in Sask.
