SIMJULY17

WINNIPEG – It was the most entertaining game yet in the 2020 CFL SIM season!

Virtual Mike Reilly was vintage in leading the BC Lions to a 29-15 triumph over the Blue Bombers Friday night at I-G Field, running their win streak to three in a row. Reilly passed for 268 yards and two touchdowns in a game the Lions controlled throughout. It was a computer-generated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, broadcast on Facebook Live.

Reilly threw an 8-yard touchdown strike to Dominique Rhymes 6:09 into the first quarter and a Bomber safety gave the visitors a 9-0 lead after the opening period. The second quarter was marked by big plays including a 109-yard Pick 6 by Lions cornerback Keon Lynn at the 6:35 mark. Bomber quarterback Zach Collaros was torched for four interceptions on the night but found WR Julian Feoli-Gudino for a 37-yard score just before the half to make it 19-10 BC at the break.

The Lions led 19-15 going into the fourth quarter and continually snuffed out any momentum Winnipeg generated. A 32-yard Shaq Johnson TD reception and 16-yard Sergio Castillo in the final frame put the game out of reach.

Caleb Holley led the Lions in receiving with 74 yards on five grabs while running backs Brandon Rutley and John White IV were both negative in yardage.

For the Bombers, Collaros passing for a whopping 462 yards despite the interception issues. Nic Demski went off with 181 yards while Darvin Adams racked up 138. Running back Andrew Harris was limited to 25 yards rushing while Justin Medlock went 2/2 on field goals. Reigning CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player Willie Jefferson was held in check by the Lions front, registering just one Quarterback Pressure on the stat sheet.

The Lions improved to 3-3 with the win while the Bombers fell to 1-4.

The game featured the national anthem performed by Reese McCormick and a life halftime performance by country music recording artist Justin LaBrash.
