CFL SIM: CALGARY 28 WINNIPEG 13
WINNIPEG – The seemingly unstoppable Calgary Stampeders spoiled the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ 2020 CFL SIM home-opener Friday night at a virtually sold-out I-G Field.
In a computer-simulated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, Calgary quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns as the Stampeders rode to a 28-13 victory. They improved their SIM record to 3-0 in the process. The Stamps led 4-3, 18-3 and 25-13 by quarter.
It was Bomber fans’ first *live* look at the Blue & Gold since their 33-12 win over Hamilton in the 2019 Grey Cup game. However the Stamps avenged their loss to Winnipeg in the Western Semifinal, sacking Bomber QB Zach Collaros three times in a physical contest.
Collaros threw for 273 yards but was intercepted three times by the suffocating Brent Monson defense. WR Darvin Adams was the Bombers’ game star with 98 yards receiving, including a 56-yard TD bomb. Drew Wolitarsky had 76 yards on 8 catches while RB Andrew Harris contributed 62 yards on the ground. Defenders Brandon Alexander and Mercy Maston intercepted Bo Levi.
Dinos product Michael Klukus had another whopper of a game with 101 yards receiving. Hergy Mayala racked up 80 yards while Kamar Jorden tallied 63. RB Ka’Deem Carey had a CFL SIM season-high 91 yards rushing. Kicker Rene Parades was 2/5 on field goals while his counterpart Justin Medlock went 2/2.
The Bombers (1-1) are on the road in Week 4, visiting the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday, July 3. The unbeaten Stamps look to stay perfect when they visit the Toronto Argonauts (2-0) on Saturday, July 4.
Week 3 in the CFL SIM season concludes Saturday night with the 2-0 Edmonton Eskimos at the 0-2 BC Lions. The game will be simulated at www.twitch.tv/nhacker49.
