CALGARY – Canada’s Game of the Week in Week 19 of the CFL SIM season did not disappoint! In his first return to McMahon Stadium after being dealt to Ottawa last winter, Nick Arbuckle threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns as the RedBlacks upset the Stampeders 21-11 on Friday Night Football.

In a computer-simulated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, both teams had plenty play for. The Stamps needed a win to clinch the #1 seed in the overall standings while the RedBlacks were looking to continue their torrid pace. After a dreadful 0-7 start, Ottawa’s gone on an 8-1 run and carried an 8-8 record into McMahon.

The RedBlacks were in control throughout. After a scoreless opening quarter, the visitors erupted for 11 points in the second quarter courtesy a 53-yard Lewis Ward field goal (a CFL SIM record), a 71-yard R.J. Harris touchdown reception and a 61-yard Richie Leone punt single. Ottawa led 11-0 at the break.

Calgary got on the board 7:38 into the third quarter when Bo Levi Mitchell found Kamar Jorden for an 82-yard touchdown capped with a successful 2-point convert. The teams traded field goals to make it 14-11 Ottawa entering the fourth quarter.

The lone scoring play of the fourth quarter was the highlight of the night. Arbuckle launched a 109-yard touchdown bomb to Marco Dubois (also a CFL SIM offensive record) at the 6:59 mark to put the game away.

Final score: Ottawa 21 Calgary 11

Celebrity viewers on the Facebook Live broadcast were Ottawa players Marco Dubois and Richie Leone!

Calgary dropped to 12-4 with the loss while Ottawa improved to 9-8.

Other Week 19 games feature Edmonton (8-7) at Hamilton (5-10) and Toronto (9-7) at Winnipeg (6-9). Both games will be simulated at www.twitch.tv/nhacker49.

Another big CFL SIM storyline is the Saskatchewan Roughriders who had a bye in Week 19, however they’ve lost five in a row and are in danger of losing their 2nd-place spot at 9-7. The Riders host Hamilton in Week 20.
