CFL SIM QUADRUPLE-HEADER!: STAMPEDERS, RIDERS, REDBLACKS AND BOMBERS WIN

STAMPS-LIONS

VANCOUVER – Canada’s Game of the Week in 2020 CFL SIM Week 10 turned into a virtual slugfest!

In a computer-generated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, marquee quarterbacks Mike Reilly and Bo Levi Mitchell duked it out in a 4th quarter heavyweight bout which saw the Stampeders come out on top 24-12.

The game was voted Canada’s Game of the Week by The Rod Pedersen Show viewers and it didn’t disappoint. It was a kickers’ duel over the first three quarters. Calgary’s Rene Parades booted a pair of first quarter field goals and BC punter Stefan Flintoft drilled a 40-yard punt single to see the Stamps lead 6-1 after the opening period.

The West Division rivals traded safeties in the second quarter, and Calgary led 8-3 at the break. Parades added a 48-yarder in the third quarter and BC kicker Sergio Castillo was good from 37-yards which made it 11-6 Stamps entering the fourth frame.

That’s when the fireworks started. BC defensive back Aaron Grymes picked off Bo Levi Mitchell and returned it to the Calgary-1 with 9:00 to go. Two plays later BC’s Mike Reilly crossed the goalline and after an unsuccessful 2-point convert attempt, BC led 12-11.

Bo Levi took over from there, leading the Stamps on a lengthy drive which ended in a 25-yard Michael Klukas touchdown reception with 7:38 remaining. 18-12 Calgary.

Parades then nailed field goals of 37- and 36-yards and Calgary rode off with a 24-12 victory before a sold-out virtual BC Place Stadium.

With the victory, the Stampeders pulled into first-place at 7-3 while the Lions dropped to 5-5.

Fans of both the Stampeders and Lions enjoyed the live broadcast on Facebook Live, and Calgary great Alex Singleton joined from NFL Eagles training camp. The national anthem and halftime show were performed by Saskatoon singer Lisa Moen as part of the RP Show Summer Concert Series.

MONTREAL – Just over a year after the famed “Rainout Game” at Percival Molson Stadium, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Montreal Alouettes were at it again.

In a computer-simulated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, Rider QB Cody Fajardo threw for 446 yards and 4 TDs as Saskatchewan pulled off a lopsided 34-13 victory. Sophomore Sask WR Brayden Lenius was lights-out, hauling in 227 yards and 2 TDs.

The Alouettes led 7-0 after the first quarter and 10-3 at the break. However a 17-point explosion in the third quarter put the Riders up 24-10 entering the fourth.

The win upped the Riders’ record to 6-2 while Montreal fell to 3-6.

WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have found their groove. Zach Collaros threw for 249 yards and a touchdown in leading the defending Grey Cup champions to a 25-7 victory over Edmonton in another West Division collision at IG Field.

The Bombers led 15-3 after the first quarter and 15-5 at halftime. They carried a 16-7 led into the fourth before outscoring the opposition 9-0 in the final frame.

The win upped the Bombers record to 3-5 while Edmonton dropped to 6-2.

HAMILTON – Break up the RedBlacks! After opening the 2020 CFL SIM season at 0-7, Ottawa has now rattled off two straight victories including a 26-0 shutout of the Tiger-Cats in Week 10 at virtual Tim Hortons Field.

RedBlacks QB Nick Arbuckle tossed for a whopping 404 yards and two touchdowns as the RedBlacks improved to 2-7. The Ticats’ Jeremiah Masoli threw for 210 yards in a losing cause while WR Brandon Banks had another stellar outing with 110 yards on 12 receptions. Hamilton fell to 2-7, matching Ottawa.
