CFL SIM: SASKATCHEWAN 22 EDMONTON 10

EDMONTON – The virtual Saskatchewan Roughriders went on a 19-0 second half run – erasing a 10-3 halftime deficit – and overpowered the Edmonton Football Club 22-10 on Thursday Night Football in the CFL SIM Esports League.

In a game computer-generated on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football and broadcast on Facebook Live, Rider QB Cody Fajardo fired fourth quarter touchdown passes to Kenny Stafford and Jordan Williams-Lambert as part of a 262-yard night. Williams-Lambert led all Rider receivers with 119 yards followed by Paul McRoberts (65), Stafford (58), Kyran Moore (11) and Max Zimmermann (9). RB William Powell had just 15 yards rushing.

The game was tied 3-3 after the opening quarter and Edmonton led 10-3 at the break as QB Trevor Harris scored on a lightning-quick drive which included a 38-yard toss to Greg Ellingson followed by a 65-yard touchdown bomb to Armani Edwards in the final minute.

In the third quarter Sask recorded two points on an Edmonton safety and three more from kicker Brett Lauther on a 47-yard field goal, but still trailed 10-8 going into the fourth. Lauther went 2/5 on the night.

The Riders had a big night on defense with four players registering interceptions: Cam Judge, Ed Gainey, Loucheiz Purifoy and L.J. McCray.

Celebrity viewers on the Facebook Live broadcast included Eskimos/Riders alum Thadd Coleman and Winnipeg linebacker Micah Awe. The national anthem was performed by Kelly Bruce and the halftime show featured singer Jordyn P0llard.

With the win Saskatchewan improved to 7-3 while Edmonton fell to 6-4.
