CFL SIM SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER: TICATS, REDBLACKS WIN!

TICATSARGOS

TIGER-CATS 23 ARGONAUTS 10

TORONTO – The Ticats exacted virtual revenge.

In a computer-generated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats walked into BMO Field and avenged a 10-loss to the Argos earlier in the season, beating the Boatmen 23-10 on Saturday.

Hamilton QB Jeremiah Masoli connected with Jaelon Acklin early in the 1st quarter for a 48-yard score and rookie kicker Matt White took over in the 2nd and 3rd quarters making two of his three field goals on the day. Masoli fired a 14-yard TD strike to Brandon Banks and the Ticats rolled to victory.

The Ticats win created a logjam in the CFL SIM East with three teams at 3-7: Montreal, Ottawa and Hamilton. The rubber match of the Battle of the QEW comes down on Labour Day at Tim Hortons Field.

REDBLACKS 30 ALOUETTES 11

MONTREAL – It took almost half a season, but the Ottawa RedBlacks have found their groove under virtual first-year head coach Paul LaPolice and his staff. Ottawa stunned the rival Alouettes 30-11 on Saturday in CFL SIM play to pull into a tie for second-place in the East Division.

In a game computer-generated on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, the Alouettes looked good early as hometown LB Alexander Gagne picked off Nick Arbuckle deep in Ottawa territory. On the next play Als QB Vernon Adams Jr. hit BJ Cunningham for a 35-yard TD.

Arbuckle – who threw four interceptions and was sacked once – was bailed out by RB John Crockett who rushed for 85 yards (second-most in the SIM this season). Ottawa’s only touchdown came on an 8-yard scoop ‘n score by Avery Ellis after a James Wilder Jr. fumble late in the 3rd quarter.

Kicker Lewis Ward was a perfect 5/5 for Ottawa.
